Our Founder

I am Angela Gilmer, the proud owner and director of Bright Minds Future Leaders. I have been involved in public education for the past 30 years as a classroom teacher, 20 of which were spent in New Caney ISD. Since leaving the classroom, I have continued working for NCISD as a substitute and public school tutor to students in grades PK - 5th. I also began private tutoring in 2020 in order to help parents and students during online learning due to COVID. Throughout the past 10-15 years, I have noticed significant changes in education. Unfortunately, the focus has changed and many students are not getting their needs met. I have seen more students struggle than ever before. I feel a change is needed in how students learn. For a lot of students and parents, the system is not working. I am worried about our children and the future of our country. So I felt it necessary to start Bright Minds Future Leaders to give parents and students an option to public education or home schooling.

My family moved to New Caney in 1998 for the small town atmosphere. Since then it has grown considerably. My husband, Rusty, and I have been married for almost 28 years. I have two sons who went through New Caney ISD and who have graduated from New Caney High School and Infinity Early College High School. By talking to them and working in public education, I have learned about the different needs of students. I never thought that I would be running my own school, but with lots of encouragement from friends and family this is my new mission! I want to help as many students as I can reach their fullest potential.

My goal is to help students develop into all around students with leadership abilities. I would like to gradually add middle school and possibly high school students in the future. I am extremely excited for this new adventure and opportunity for students in our area.
